‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign held at B’la amid series of Activities/ Events

Dr Sehrish presides function at Panchayat Tappar; asks people to contribute in Nation building, its protection

BARAMULLA, AUGUST 02: Continuing its endeavour to implement all the components as envisaged under ‘Mera Maati Mera Desh’ campaign, a series of activities were held at Baramulla to mark its observance.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar paid visit to Panchayat Ghar Takiya Tappar Pattan where she took part in various activities including Plantation and remembering brave hearts, Memorials, hoisting of National Flag and singing of Rashtra Gaan (National Anthem) and Panch Pran Pledge.

Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf; Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Zahoor Ahmad Raina; Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, Sub Divisional Magistrates of Uri, Pattan and Tangmarg, functionaries of all concerned departments, students and all the  concerned stakeholders were present in the programme.

At the outset, the DC inaugurated a memorable board ‘Shilaphalakam’ to pay tributes to the freedom fighters of the country. While paying salutations, the DC said that the bravery and patriotism of the freedom fighters will remain an inspiration for ages.

At Panchayat Tappar, Dr Sehrish administered Panch Pran Pledge to all the participants wherein the people affirmed to work for the betterment of the country.

Addressing the gathering, the DC underlined the importance of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ (My soil is my country) campaign. She said that the programme, which is being held from August 9 to August 15, 2023, is aimed at invoking a feeling of patriotism and unity in the hearts of people and promoting a sense of respect for the soil of the nation.

On the occasion, the DC also underlined various achievements made under Jal Jeevan Mission and asserted that the progress achieved in the said sector is a remarkable journey for the mission as it has resulted in significant socio-economic benefits to the rural population.

The DC also informed that under Mission Amrit Sarovar, more than hundred Amrit Sarovars have been established with an aim to rejuvenate springs/ ponds as envisaged under the Mission.

As part of the programme, the DC also unfurled tricolor followed by the National Anthem. She also planted different tree saplings as envisaged under the programme.

Meanwhile, the DC also paid rich tribute to Mushtaq Ahmad Para, SPO of Tappar Pattan for his bravery and supreme sacrifice for the country. She also interacted with his Mother and extended her a warm respect.
