3 Day Workshop on ‘Digital Literacy & Skill Building of Rural Women Entrepreneurs’ under UNESCO Project inaugurated in CUJ

JAMMU, AUGUST 02: Central University of Jammu (CUJ) in collaboration with NRLM (UMEED) on Wednesday organised a three days workshop on Digital Literacy & Skill Building for rural women entrepreneurs under UNESCO project.

 The aim of the workshop was to accelerate women entrepreneurship in Rural India, and Digital Empowerment for Self Reliance and Gender Equality. The workshop began today and will be concluded on August 04, 2023.

The inauguration of the programme started with the welcome speech by Dr. Bharti Gupta, Co-Director, UNESCO followed by a lamp lighting ceremony. Project director welcomed all the guests and highlighted the importance of the project, as it was the only project, which was granted to India out of 6.

 Dr Archana, Co-Director of the project shared the programme objectives and its relevance in the light of Prime Minister’s vision; ‘Vocal for Local’ on behalf of Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain.

 Prof. Yashwant Singh delivered the presidential address. In his speech, he has emphasised the importance of cyber security and digital hygiene. Then the sessions were enriched with the keynote address by Indu Kanwal Chib, Mission Director, JKRLM.

She highlighted the pragmatic deliverance of workshop among the rural women in terms of digital literacy. She advised the participants to make use of each session for the enhancement of their respective skills.

Abhishek Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Samba, addressed the gathering by highlighting the importance of branding and startup programmes in the current scenario. He advised for using recent digital innovative platforms for marketing the SHG products.

The Chief Guest of the Programme Prerna Puri, Commissioner Secretary, IT Department, Government of J&K motivated the participants to be a torch bearer of the family and emphasised on learning digital skills, so that in the coming time they become ‘Aatam Saksham’.

The session was concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Nancy Mengi, Co-director. After the inaugural ceremony, participants were availed with proposed technical sessions by eminent resource persons.
