Vigilance Awareness Camp organised at B’la

Dr Sehrish presided over the function; terms Transparency, Accountability Vital for ensuring Social Justice and Welfare Governance

BARAMULLA, AUGUST 05: With an aim to spread awareness and promote good governance in the government offices, the Anti–Corruption Bureau in collaboration with District Administration Baramulla today organized a daylong awareness programme on ‘Corruption Free Jammu and Kashmir’ at Dak Bungalow, here.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar presided over the programme as the chief guest while as SSP, Anti–Corruption Bureau, District Vigilance Officer Baramulla, all District/Zonal Officers, Tehsildars, All Patwaries, besides other senior officials of ACB were present in the awareness programme.

At the outset, a powerpoint presentation was presented wherein a series of clips were transmitted for the participants to aware them of the corruption and its impacts on society.

Dr Sehrish while addressing the participants appreciated the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for organizing an awareness programme titled “Corruption Free Jammu and Kashmir’ for sensitization of Government functionaries and citizens.

Terming governance reforms a pivotal for corruption free society, the DC asserted that  various Reform measures have been taken during the recent past through technological interventions to ensure accountable, transparent and corruption free Governance Architecture so that benefits of Government schemes percolate to genuine beneficiaries and payments are transferred to Vendors without any intermediary.

The DC said that the various platforms including BEAMS, Direct Benefit Transfer, Empowerment App, online Revenue Services, etc. have been made online to make transparency in the government system.

Elucidating further, Dr Sehrish also underscored that citizens participation is imperative in eradication of corrupt practices at all levels and people must also be made aware about the ill effects of corruption. She further reiterated that other reformative measures need to be taken to end anti-poor, anti-development and anti-economic activity.

Moreover, the DC exhorted upon the concerned authorities to maintain integrity, transparency, accountability and justice at all levels while implementing government schemes so that people do not face any inconvenience. She urged all to work with dedication and honesty so that newer generations can imbibe values of integrity.

Meanwhile, a series of lectures were also deliberated on the occasion to highlight the ill effects of corruption and measures required to be taken to end the menace.
