Bharat Centric Research: A Vital Land Mark of NEP 2020

JAMMU, AUGUST 6:Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor called upon researchers across all the disciplines to build up the climate of Bharat Centric Research by selecting and conducting the research issues in their respective fields. Prof Jain was addressing the delegates of Two-Day ICSSR sponsored National Seminar on Bharat-Centric Research: Opportunities and Challenges” organised by Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu. Prof Jain further advised the organizers to maintain this spirit of doing research-based events, focusing on Bharat-Centered Research. He also suggested to the participants to apply all the knowledge and understanding for doing the research in Bharat based circumstances and context.

Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu has various programmes focused on Indian Knowledge System (IKS) and its relevant domains by engaging all the stakeholders including faculties and scholars of various social science disciplines. Building the path of visible implementation of National Education Policy, 2020, Central University of Jammu laid the vital emphasis on various initiatives pertaining to curriculum structures, programme designing and evaluation procedures. The culture of research which is productive, meaningful, and connected to the Indian perspectives are being promoted in various disciplines in CU Jammu.   

The inaugural session of the workshop was  graced by Prof. Saroj Sharma, Chairperson, NIOS, New Delhi, Prof. Chand Kiran Saluja, Director-Academics, Samskrit Promotion foundation New Delhi, , Prof. Girish Nath Jha, Chairman, Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology, MoE, GoI, New Delhi; School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies, JNU, New Delhi, Prof. Vishal Sood, Professor, Dept. of Education, Central University of HP and Dr. J.N. Baliya, Head Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu.

Prof. Saroj Sharma in her keynote address focuses on the fact that ancient Bharat had a very rich civilization which includes 18 Vidyas and 64 Kalayan, Chath Darshan and many more. She further stressed that there is a vast diversity of areas where research can be done in context to Bharat-Centric Research which includes Bhartiya Architect, Physics, Chemistry, Shilpa Kala, Natya Kala etc. Furthermore, she urged in her address to integrate sciences with the social sciences and concluded by saying that there should be emphasis on researchers in Bhartiya Gyan and Vigyan.

Prof. Girish Nath Jha in his special remarks emphasized that education should be imparted in one’s own language which is also beautifully described in NEP. He further exclaimed that this is only possible if the content designing and content creation to be done in native languages along with technology development. Prof. Jha also stressed upon the promotion of Indian languages in education.

While addressing, he throws light on the integration of Indian education with the recent advancement in technology like AI and machine learning. Prof. Chand Kiran Saluja in his inspiring and motivational deliberation urged the teachers to design the curriculum and content of the subject with real-life activities and practices. He also said that each and every thing of life is in the form of a text book so we need to connect the things through our pedagogical practices. Prof Jha also elaborated the technicalities and procedures necessitated to promote the culture of research on Bhartiya Gyan Parampara. 

Dr. J.N. Baliya, Head Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu formally welcomed the keynote speakers of the inaugural session. He gave a detailed description about the purpose and motive behind the conduct of this Seminar. Dr Baliya shared that an Internship Programme, on evolving Pedagogical Practices for effective integration of the Dogra Culture and Heritage, has also been initiated in the University which is sponsored by Indian knowledge System (IKS) Division under AICTE, Ministry of Education New Delhi.  He also thanked and appreciated all the participants and resource persons to make this seminar more insightful and productive.

The Seminar was organised with some key objectives based on sub-themes such as Probable research areas in Bharat Centric Research, Reflecting Bharat centric Solutions to contemporary issues, Research methodology used for Bharat centric Research, Probable research designs in Bharat centric Research, Challenges in employing appropriate data collection devices, Relevance of Indian Traditional Knowledge for Sustainable Development, Promoting Indian Cultural Heritage through Bharat oriented research, Visualizing inclusive society in Indian Perspective through Bharat Centric Research etc .

The whole seminar had been taken up in eight sessions in two days national seminar which were addressed by the eminent speakers and experts from different regions of the country namely Prof. Gaurav Singh, Prof. Deepak Pathania, , Prof. Baljeet Singh, Dr. Nancy Mengi, Prof. Mandeep Singh, Dr. Naresh Sharma, Prof Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Prof Suman Jamwal, Dr. Neelika Arora, Prof. Sunil Dhar and Dr. Amit Gangotia. 

About 55 research papers were  presented by different delegates from all over the country through online and offline mode. In the end, Dr. Aman, Assistant Professor, Department of Educational Studies read the briefed report of the whole event along with formal vote of thanks to participants and resource persons for making this seminar a successful event.
