SAC meetings of KVKs held at Bandipora
BANDIPORA, August 07: The 17th and 2nd SAC meeting for KVK Bandipora-I (Potushai) and KVK Bandipora-II (Gurez) respectively was held at Mountain Agriculture Research & Extension Station (Gurez) under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor SKUAST Kashmir, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai.
The meeting witnessed active participation from officers of the varsity including Director Extension Prof Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi, Director Research Prof. Tariq Hussain Masoodi , Director Finance Dr. Manzoor Ahmad besides participation of all Heads of Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Kashmir valley, scientists of sectoral Heads of the developments departments viz. Sub Divisional Magistrate Gurez Chief Agriculture Officer Bandipora, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer Bandipora, Forest Range Officer Gurez, besides Block Development Officer Gurez.
At the outset, Programme Coordinator KVK Bandipora-1 (Potushai) Dr. Tariq Sultan presented the Annual Progress Report for the year 2022-23 through Powerpoint presentation and highlighted the key achievements made by the Kendra which was followed with proposed Action Plan for 2023-24. The programme continued with presentation by KVK Bandipora-II (Gurez) by Dr. Bilal Ahmad Bhat.
The feedback was sought from all sectoral heads regarding the achievements made by the Kendras followed with threadbare discussion to chalk out the future strategies in tune with the developments through inclusion of the same under proposed action plans.
In his remarks, Vice Chancellor SKUAST Kashmir appreciated KVK Bandipora-1 (Potushai) for receiving the best KVK award conferred to the Kendra recently during Zonal KVK workshop held on June 26-28, 2023 at Dehradun. He further informed the house that despite all the odds and challenges, KVK Bandipora-1 Potushai had a significant impact through outreach and demonstrations across the district.
The chairman desired all KVKs to have a benchmark study so as to assess the impact of given activities with significant data over the years.
The Vice Chancellor acknowledged and appreciated the officers for their active participation and desired to have more synergy to achieve the objectives earmarked under Holistic Agriculture Development Plan (HADP).
Earlier, Director Extension highlighted the importance for conducting the SAC meetings and informed the house that such meetings were instrumental to assess the real field problems and requirements perceived by the development departments and to come up with the future research strategies in this regard.
