JJM fortnight campaign: M.D JJM tours Baramulla, inspects various Projects

BARAMULLA, AUGUST 09: As part of Government’s unique and ambitious outreach programme of fortnight celebrations for Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Mission Director (M.D) JJM J&K, Dr G.N. Itoo today paid a visit to Baramulla district and took a detailed inspection of works being executed under JJM.
During the visit, the M.D JJM also interacted with the representatives of Pani Samitis and carried out several activities envisaged under the campaign.
At the outset, Dr Itoo inspected the Goom Ahmadpora Water Supply Scheme at Pattan which is being executed under Jal Jeevan Mission at an estimated cost of Rs 964.27 lakh.
After taking a comprehensive inspection of the project, the M.D exhorted upon the concerned authorities for early completion of the scheme with instant restoration so that the project becomes functional in the month of September.
Dr. Itoo also conducted testing of water being supplied to the households in various areas of Pattan for its quality. He said that the water testing kits have been supplied to the Pani Samitis across Jammu and Kashmir. He further added that these water testing kits are used as an indicator for measuring the chlorine content and turbidity of the potable water.
Interacting with Pani Samitis, M.D said that JJM is a mass movement of potable water to every soul. He asserted that the village communities must develop a sense of ownership of the projects for longer sustainability.
Dr. Itoo also visited Tangmarg and presided over the painting competition programme organized by Govt Middle School Reram. The painting competition was organized as part of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) fortnight celebration programme, aiming to create awareness about water conservation. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation of students who showcased their artistic talents on the theme of Water Conservation.
On the occasion, M.D JJM appreciated the students for their skill in paintings and provided a cash of Rs. 5 thousand among the best performing students. He also appreciated the creativity and efforts of the young artists besides felicitated the participants with certificates of appreciation.
Meanwhile, in another programme organized by Government Higher Secondary School Chandilora Tangmarg, Dr. Itoo while addressing the participants said that the government is committed to ensure the availability of clean water to every household, thus improving the overall quality of life for the residents.
Furthermore, on-spot demonstration of Water Testing on Field Testing Kits was presented by Water Testing Staff before the participants in order to train them.
Later, M.D JJM visited Drung Water Source Tangmarg where the quality of water source was on spot tested in presence of local PRIs.
M.D was accompanied by SDM Pattan, SDM Tangmarg, SE, Consultants, Executive Engineer and other senior officers.
