PSAJK reveals facts about Sopore school video

*Child was getting free education, transport facility despite pendency of Rs 50000*

*Private schools impart free education to more than 30000 poor students, no deserving student is denied education*

*Private Schools to boycott all unverified, irresponsible social media outlets, mulls legal action against so called social media journalists*

Srinagar Aug 09: Private Schools Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) has strongly condemned the behaviour of irresponsible social media news outlets who without verifying facts mligned a  reputed school in Sopore.

The Association said that no amount of browbeating or emotional blackmailing can hide the facts.

A spokesperson of PSAJK said that after coming to know about the incident, the officials of PSAJK immediately contacted the said school to ascertain the facts.

The findings concluded that

1. The parents of the student live separately. There is a family dispute and the matter is sub-judice. Father wants to admit the student in some other school whereas mother wants Transfer Certificate to admit her in other School. The school refused to give Transfer Certificate to the mother without the consent of father. And the drama was started.

2. The repeated statement of student that she was not allowed to write exam is a brazen lie. She wrote examination yesterday and today also as per schedule. Inquiry conducted by ADC through CEO testifies the same. We can produce photographic evidence too.

3. Regarding fee, the truth is that the student has been allowed to study and even provided free transportation that too to alternate route despite having liability of more than Rs 50000.

4. School has provided books and uniform despite pendency of fee for past many years.

The Association said there is ample evidence that the mother had tutored her daughter to give such a statement in front of media. “This is our collective tragedy. How low have we stooped. Due to such behaviour of few parents all the honest parents are defamed and education of their wards suffer,” said a spokesperson of PSAJK.

The irony is that the student who repeatedly said she was not allowed to appear in exam had not only written her paper yesterday but today also. The school has all the records and even her answer paper. “Now one can guess the type of upbringing of that child” said the spokesperson of PSAJK. This has not only psychologically impacted that child for life but other students too.

The Association said that as of now private schools impart free education to around 30,000 students. They are either orphans or come from deserving families. “Every deserving student is taken care of without any problem,” he said.

“If the said mother had some issue she could have raised the grievance with the said school or PSAJK district officials in Baramulla or PSAJK Srinagar. But she chose to use social media in a negative way”.

The Association condemned the behaviour of the so-called social media outlets, who trespassed into the school and posted one sided fake narrative.

The Association said that Tresspassing and gundagardi by such irresponsible social media news outlets has become a menace for the society. If they were truthful they could have contacted school authorities and sought permission to interview the student.

The Association said it has decided to boycott all such unverified and irresponsible news outlets. All the schools have been directed not to entertain such media outlets in any way.

Furthermore the Association and the school is mulling legal action against such social media channels who have become menace for the society due to their unprofessional conduct.  They have potential to rupture social fabric and disrupt harmony in the society. The Association will be filing a defamation suit such media outlets for trespassing and maligning a reputed name.

We will be writing to Deputy Commissioner Baramulla to cancel the recognition and accreddition of such journalists.

Regarding situation of poor students and how schools are helping them the spokesperson said, “in many schools well-off parents are willful defaulters. Fee worth crores of rupees is pending with such parents and it is due to action of such parents others have to suffer. Every second day we hear closure of private schools. Quality education is impacted because few parents dont deposit their fee,” said the spokesperson.

Private schools are part and parcel of the society and if there is any issue, one needs to raise it through proper channels and we assure you that every genuine concern will ve addressed, he said.
