Meri Mati Mera Desh: Kathua buzzes with multifarious activities on inaugural day
KATHUA, AUGUST 09: The ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, took off with an ebullient note in Kathua amid an array of activities held across the district.
The inaugural day was marked by plantation drives, panch pran pledges, and installation of Silaphalakam across different villages of the district wherein mass participation of PRIs and locals were observed.
Earlier before the morning assembly, the school staff hoisted tri-color while students recited the national anthem and paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters and to all those who have laid down their lives for the protection of the country as part of the Meri Maati, Mera Desh programme.
The district administration Kathua has orchestrated numerous events under the Meri Mitti Mera Desh initiative wherein all the line departments are carrying out numerous activities as per pre decided schedule of events and are putting in dedicated efforts to promote environmental consciousness and sustainable practices.
Besides, volunteers of NYK Kathua organized Veero Ko Vandan ceremonies in schools where floral tributes were offered to the local martyrs who have rendered their services in Army, BSF, JK Police, CRPF etc. Cultural programmes on patriotic themes were also organised to throw light on the lives of freedom fighters so as to instill patriotism among the youth besides enlightening them about India’s freedom struggle and its rich cultural legacy.
Pertinently, “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign is an integral part of the concluding ceremonies of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and its central focus revolves around “Soil,” symbolizing the essence and unity of the nation. The campaign is aimed to collect Soil from every Panchayat across the district and later the same will travel to Delhi, to pay homage to the valiant heroes. The events under the campaign including events of Deep Dive-Silaphalakam, Vasudha Vandhan (planting 75 saplings), Veeron Ka Vandan, Hoisting of National Flag, Singing of Rashtra Gaan (National Anthem) and Panch Pran Pledge will be observed from 09-30th august 2023 as a tribute to the freedom fighters and martyrs who laid down their lives for the country.
