DC Ramban launches De-worming drive to cover all children in 1to19 yr Age Group
RAMBAN, August 10: The Department of Health and Family Welfare, in coordination with the District Administration, observed National Deworming Day across district Ramban, here today.
Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam inaugurated the de-worming drive at Government Higher Secondary School by distributing the medicines among the students.
Dy. DEO, Lal Chand, CMO Ramban, Kamal Zadu, CEO, Devanand, Principal GMHSS Ramban, Kewal Krishan Sharma, Medical Superintendent DH, Dr Virender Trisal and various officers and officials of different departments attended the function.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the main objective is to deworm children in schools and Anganwadi centres to ensure their proper growth. India has the highest burden of parasitic worms in the world. Parasitic worms in children interfere with nutrient uptake, and can contribute to anemia, malnourishment, and impaired mental and physical development.
CMO disclosed that more than 2000 officials of the health department besides Anganwadi workers, District Information Centre Ramban, school teachers and PHE workers have been engaged across the district Ramban to render their services to make this drive successful.
He informed that all engaged officials have been imparted necessary training by the experts of the health department for conducting the deworming drive in the district. “The department has set the target to cover all children in the age group of 1-19 by providing them deworming medicine”, he added.
The drive is being conducted in all medical blocks of the district in which respective Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDM) inaugurated the drive.
