Meri Matti Mera Desh celebrations begins at CUJ

SAMBA Aug 12:  In the auspicious Independence month of August “MERI MAATI MERA DESH; MITTI KO NAMAN VEERON KA VANDAN ” celebrations has been formally launched at Central university of Jammu today. To pay homage to the Matti of the motherland, CUJ will organise a series of events. The month-long events will include Panchpran Pledge, Vasudha Vandana, Veeron ki Vandana, Cultural programmes, Flag Hoisting, Rastriya Gaan and lectures by eminent scholars/ veers.

Today, the lightening of traditional lamp marked the inauguration of celebrations, by Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu and Ravikant Babu, DDG, Akashvani Jammu.

Prof. Jain made Mitti ka Diya on traditional chak (potter’s wheel) and it was followed by faculty, staff and students of the university.

In his inaugural address Vice Chancellor Prof. Jain said these Mitti ka diya are symbols of connection with maati and source of guiding light which our freedom fighters have bestowed to us. We are all binded through Maati and a sense of Patriotism permeates in our blood for the motherland.

Our Matti has given birth to several brave hearts, veers who have happily made supreme sacrifice for the protection of motherland and we should always remember them in our deeds.

It was followed by Lok Sangeet Utsav in collaboration with Akashvani Jammu whereby regional songs in dogri, kashmiri, himachali and punjabi were performed by artists with a flavour of patriotism and dedication to veers, to inspire and create a sense of pride and respect for motherland among students.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain administered the Panchpran Pledge to all the Participants. The event culminated with the National Anthem.

Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar, Dr. Ritu Bakshi, DSW, Dr. Vinay Kumar, ADSW, Deans, Heads, Faculty, Staff, research scholars and students participated in the event.
