Independence Week Celebration at Girls’ Hostel Premises in Jammu University
JAMMU, August 12: The Girls’ Hostels, University of Jammu celebrated Independence Week. The program aimed to instill patriotic culture providing an opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate the Swaadheenta Mahotsav.
A rally was organized in which Swaadheenta songs(Geet), Nukkad Nataks, folk songs and Slogans were performed by boarders, and the Provost Girls’ Hostels, Wardens, R/Wardens and entire staff also participated. Various presentations and display of talent on the Independence theme made the atmosphere full of patriotic fervor. There were several other programs like Poem/Prose writing, Painting, cultural dance etc, Speech on Swadheenta theme. A motivating speech was given by Provost Girls’ Hostel, Prof. Shashi Manhas, who addressed the gathering of boarders and staff of the entire Girls’ Hostels and said that the way India has progressed after Independence, the world is looking towards India for inspiration and opportunities. She urged the Girl boarders to seize the opportunity in this growth journey and shape their destiny for a better future, without losing sight of their rich cultural traditions. She also praised the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor and the University authorities for support in the cause , and the Girl borders for their enthusiastic participation in the event. An interactive session with boarders was conducted in which Prof. Shashi Manhas, Provost Girls’ Hostels; Dr Pallavi Sachdev, Warden, Priyadarshini Girls Hostel (PDGH); Dr Chinmoyee Maharana, Warden, Sarojini Naidu Girls’ Hostel (SNGH); Ms Meenakshi, Warden, Chandrabhaga Girls Hostel (CBGH); Dr Skarma, R/Warden, PDGH; Dr Sushma, R/Warden, SNGH; Dr Samriti, and Dr Radhika, R/Wardens New Girls Hostel (NGH); Ms Anjali, R/warden, CBGH participated and everyone enjoyed the activities during the occasion.
This event filled the entire University complex and the Girls’ Hostel Premises with a patriotic fervor as the boarders and staff participated enthusiastically to decorate the premises with tricolor and showcased the importance of community-building with the Celebrations of Independence.
