DLSA Kishtwar organises special Lok Adalat on the eve of Independence Day
KISHTWAR, August 12: In commemoration of Independence Day, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kishtwar organised a Special Lok Adalat under the esteemed guidance of the Chairman Manjeet Singh Manhas. The significant event aimed to address a spectrum of legal matters, fostering timely resolutions within the judicial system.
The Special Lok Adalat addressed an array of cases, including Criminal Compoundable cases, Matrimonial and cases, Maintenance, Civil, Recovery, Labour, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) Cases, Pre-Litigation cases, and more. Two dedicated benches were established to facilitate this endeavor. The first bench consisted of Mr. Manjeet Singh Manhas, Principal District and Sessions Judge Kishtwar, and Advocate Kuldeep Kumar Sharma. The second bench featured Mahmud Anwar Al-Nasir, Chief Judicial Magistrate Kishtwar, and Kartar Singh, Munsiff/JMIC Kishtwar.
A total of 472 cases were brought before these benches, and an impressive 364 cases of varying nature were successfully resolved. Notably, in MACT Cases, a sum of Rs 1,00,44,325/- was awarded to claimants as compensation. Additionally, an amount of Rs 11,50,000/- was awarded in 138 Negotiable Instruments Act (NI Act) cases and other compoundable cases.
