Full dress rehearsal for Independence Day held at Polo Ground Leh

Leh, August 13: A full dress rehearsal for the 77th Independence Day was conducted at the Polo Ground in Leh today.

Deputy Commissioner, Santosh Sukhadeve, presided over the parade and unfurled the Indian flag.

The full-dress rehearsal ceremony comprised marching contingent from the Central Armed Police Force (CRPF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), District Police Leh (Men), Women IRP 25 battalion, ex-servicemen Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre (LSRC) ex-servicemen Ladakh Scouts Regimental Centre (LSRC), NCC contingent from Leh and Kargil and marching contingents from different schools of both the districts and the three-band parties, including LSRC, Ladakh Police women IRP 25 Battalion as well as marching contingent of Commando forces and Canine squad of Ladakh Police participated in the march past.

Cultural troupes of Ladakh Academy of Art Culture and Languages (LAACL) from Leh and Kargil districts and various schools such as KV, Rigjung Public School, Girls Higher Secondary School, Sindh Public, performed cultural songs and dances during the occasion.

After conclusion of the full dress rehearsal, Deputy Commissioner emphasised on making the National Function a grand success.

He reviewed various aspects and passed on necessary directions for ensuring smooth conduct of the event on 15th August.
