CUJ Observes Partition Horrors Remembrance Day
JAMMU, August 14: Central University of Jammu, under the Patronship of Prof. Sanjeev Jain on August 14, observed Partition Horror Remembrance Day or ‘Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas’ in memory of those who lost their lives during Partition.
The seminar started with a special talk by Maj Gen Goverdhan Singh Jamwal (Retd.) in Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium. Maj Gen Jamwal (Retd) salutes the millions of Indians who lost their lives in the partition and suffered the pain of Displacement.
He emphasized the role of education in preventing such tragedies in the future, stating, and “Education plays a crucial role in this endeavor. By teaching our younger generations about the consequences of partition, we empower them to prevent such tragedies from occurring again.
Prof. Devaanand said that as we pay homage to the victims and survivors of this tragic event, let us commit ourselves to building a future where unity prevails over division, where understanding triumphs over hatred, and where the lessons of history guide us towards a more peaceful and harmonious world.
Prof. Vandana Sharma said that the partition horrors were a dark chapter in India’s history. But they do not have to define our future. If we work together, we can build a strong and united India where everyone feels safe and secure.
Dr. Reetu Bakshi said that the main objective of this event is to create awareness about the tragedy/ horrors of the Partition of India, 1947.
