Draft Export Plan for Apple discussed

SHOPIAN, AUGUST 18: The District Level Export Promotion Committee (DLEPC) meeting was today convened here under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb to deliberate upon the Draft Export Plan for the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, specifically focusing on the product ‘Apple’.

The meeting was held in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO), aimed at strategizing the enhancement of exports from District Shopian.

The meeting served as a platform for comprehensive discussions regarding the District Export Action Plan, encompassing both tangible and intangible interventions necessary to augment the export potential of apple products under the ODOP-DEH scheme. 

Sr. Consultant, JKTPO on the occasion presented the draft plan, elaborating on the strategic roadmap to propel exports and transform District Shopian into an Export Hub for apple products.

Members of the DLEPC, including the Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Deputy Director, Handloom and Handicrafts, Lead District Manager Shopian and the Member Secretary, General Manager DIC- Shopian, actively participated in the vibrant dialogue.

One of the focal points of the meeting was a profound discourse on strategies to amplify the apple production in District Shopian.

Delegates engaged in fruitful deliberations on the necessary interventions, ranging from agronomic practices to post-harvest processing, aimed at enhancing the overall production and quality of the apple produce.

The DC articulated his vision for the future of apple exports from Kashmir. He emphasized the importance of the export plan encompassing robust brand-building strategies, elevating the recognition and desirability of Kashmiri apples in the global market.

He directed all stakeholders present to contribute their valuable insights and recommendations, ensuring a well-rounded and impactful District Export Action Plan that caters to the unique strengths and opportunities of District Shopian.
