Uday anguishes over continuation of Sarore Toll Plaza amidst damaged National Highway
Asks Govt to immediately suspend Sarore Toll Plaza till National Highway is restored
JAMMU, August 18, 2023: Uday Chib, President of J&K Pradesh Youth Congress, has criticized the government’s decision to allow the continued operation of the toll plaza at Sarore, despite the recent damage to the national highway in Samba district.
In a statement issued today, Uday Chib expressed his strong condemnation of the government’s apparent lack of serious concern for the predicaments faced by the general public commuting on the Jammu Pathankot National Highway. He questioned the rationale behind imposing toll charges on people for using a damaged and blocked national highway, asserting that such a practice is unfair and unreasonable.
He highlighted the fact that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had already installed a toll plaza at Sarora, which he deemed a violation of National Highways norms. He pointed out that even the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had acknowledged the irregular and unauthorized installation of the toll plaza at Sarore.
Issuing a stern warning to the BJP leadership, Uday Chib cautioned against testing the patience of the general public, especially as the approaching 2024 polls draw nearer. He asserted that the public’s sentiment cannot be taken for granted, and indicated that the upcoming polls would serve as an opportunity for the people to express their dissatisfaction.
Uday Chib appealed to the government to take immediate action by suspending the toll plaza at Sarore until the Jammu Pathankot National Highway is properly restored failing which the party has no other option to come on roads.
