JKAACL organises day long Cultural Festival held at GHSS Chandilora

TANGMARG, AUGUST, 19: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) today organized a one-day ‘Cultural Festival’ at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Chandilora here.

Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Dr. Tasaduq Hussain was the chief guest on the occasion. Secretary JKAACL, Bharat Singh Manhas; Principal, Govt. Higher Secondary School, Chandilora, Zafar Iqbal Lone; faculty of the higher secondary school, senior functionaries of the JKAACL, students and large number of locals were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, DSEK appreciated the administrative set up of the JKAACL for choosing educational institutions for holding of area specific cultural festivals. Promising support of his department in such endeavours, Dr. Tasaduq said that the J&K Cultural Academy was doing a fine job and this cultural festival attested it.

“The New Education Policy (NEP) encourages multicultural education, the aim of which is to help develop an understanding and appreciation for different cultures,” he said.

Earlier in his welcome speech, Secretary JKAACL, said that ‘cultural festival series’ has been started by JKAACL, the purpose of which is to celebrate the rich cultural diversity and traditions of Kashmir valley.

The main attractions of the programme were Kashmiri Rauf, Qawalis, Bacha Nagma and Damali dance. As part of the day-long festival, a play was also staged.

Students of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Chandilora also presented performances like Kashmiri ruff and skit on national integration, which were highly appreciated by the audiences.
