Eight injured after car collides with minivan in Assam’s Goalpara

Goalpara (Assam) [India], August 21 (ANI): At least eight people were injured after a car collided with a minivan in the Dhupdhara area of Goalpara district, an official said on Monday.

Locals immediately rushed to the spot on Sunday night and rescued the injured and admitted them to nearby hospitals, he said.

Five of the injured persons were admitted to the Dhupdhara Model Hospital while three serious were referred to Goalpara Civil Hospital.

Senior doctor Lily Phukan said that all eight injured persons were initially admitted to the Dhupdhara Model Hospital but due to their serious condition, three victims were referred to Goalpara Civil Hospital.

Further details into the matter are awaited. 

Earlier, at least three people were killed following a head-on collision between a truck and a motorcycle in the Gopalganj area in Assam’s Dhubri district.

The incident took place on National Highway 17 in the Gopalganj Belguri area.

The deceased people have been identified as Jahirul and Naseer.

According to a police officer, the three people who were travelling on a bike, died on the spot after it collided with a truck that was coming from the opposite direction.

Police seized the truckm howeverm the truck driver fled from the scene following the accident.
