Jammu University Dept of Economics visited Bajalta Village.
Jammu, August 25: Under the guidance of the hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Umesh Rai to take students to villages adopted under Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan the students from the Department of Economics visited Bajalta Village adopted by the University of Jammu under Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan.
All students interacted with women working under Self Help Groups and visited different houses and enquired about the facilities provided by the government in the shape of loans to start small business by the women and poor families in Bajalta. The women are making jute articles for domestic use, printing of Bed sheets, stitching clothes and many other articles which are sold in the local market. A group from students conducted survey of selected households and collected data on households profile and availability of basic facilities in the village . These data will be interpreted and submitted to the department for academic evaluation under their course paper on Indian Economic Policy.
The group was led by Prof. Jasbir Singh. Dr.Nikita Sharma and Dr. Rennie Mahajan , Assitant Professors in the department of Economics accompanied and monitored the group. Earlier Prof. Aroon Sharma , Head, Department of Economics flagged off the students from the Fountain Plaza.
