GMHSS Ramabn organises seminar to mark International Year of Millets  

RAMBAN, August 25: To mark the International Year of Millets, a National Science Seminar on ‘Millets-a super food’ was organized at Government Model Higher Secondary School Ramban which witnessed the participation of selected students of Ramban education zone.

The School Principal, Kewal Krishen Sharma, was the chief guest of the Seminar organized by the State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT), Jammu through District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) under the aegis of National Council of Science Museums, Ministry of Culture and Government of India.

The students selected from different schools first appeared in a written test and then in a debate cum presentation and question-answer competition.

  Amjad Hussain, Bhumika Thakur and Sadiq Bhat secured first, second and third positions, respectively.

The students securing first two positions from each zone will compete in the ensuing district level seminar.

The School Principal  said that the aim of the seminar was to inculcate the scientific temperament among students as well as to educate them about the nutritious importance of millets.

Similar seminars were also held in Banihal, Khari and Ukhral education zones.
