District Admin Jammu gears up for Digital J&K Week celebrations

JAMMU, August 29: District Administration Jammu has established a major setup in Kala Kendra to use it as the epicentre of activities during the Digital Jammu & Kashmir Week celebration.

The week-long event is set to start from August 31 to September 6, to showcase digital initiatives and services of the government.Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sandeep Seointra, today inspected the preparation made in the Kala Kendra in the run up to the weeklong event .

During the visit, the ADC revealed that celebrations will be held across the district, with Kala Kendra serving as the epicentre. A mobile awareness van will traverse across the district, disseminating valuable information on digital services and government programs.

The ADC examined the venue’s readiness, ensuring sanitation, access to drinking water and a reliable power supply. To enrich the experience, different departments are gearing up to establish stalls, where they will spotlight their unique digital services and flagship schemes.

The BSNL officers were entrusted with the task of ensuring seamless connectivity during the Digital J&K Week festivities. Meanwhile, the Education Department received instructions to orchestrate competitions and awareness activities involving school children, thus spreading digital literacy to the masses.

The Higher Education Department was also asked to actively engage their institutes in promoting digital awareness during this week of celebration.A significant emphasis was placed on educating the public about online fraud and digital security, empowering citizens to safeguard themselves against malicious online activities.

Each department was directed to appoint Nodal Officers for smooth coordination and execution.

Moreover, officials will be stationed at the stalls to answer queries, educate visitors and offer hands-on training if needed.

An Aadhaar facilitation booth will also be set up on the occasion to provide services and awareness regarding Aadhaar cards.Officers from various departments, District Informatics Officer, Sanjeev Kapoor; Incharge UIDAI Jammu and representatives from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited and Kala Kendra were also present in the meeting.
