Bhalla urges Govt to expedite probe into mysterious death of AEE Gurmeet Singh

Jammu, August 30, 2023:- Civil society members from all sections of society today organized candle light march to pay tribute to Assistant executive engineer (AEE) Gurmeet Singh who was found dead in Jehlum River. The candle march started from Gurudwara Santpura Guru Nanak Nagar to Khalsa Chowk where hundreds of civil society members participated.

JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla also joined Candle light march.Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said, serving as an Assistant Executive Engineer in the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department of Jammu and Kashmir, Er. Gurmeet Singh played a pivotal role in shaping the infrastructure landscape of Bandipora.

During his tenure, Er. Gurmeet Singh spearheaded critical projects that significantly impacted the development and accessibility of the region. His visionary leadership led to the successful completion of projects such as the Mini Secretariat, Papchan Bridge, and the Rampora Rajpora Road. “Er. Gurmeet Singh’s (Sethi Veer Ji) passing is a great loss to both the engineering fraternity and the community at large,” Bhalla said.Bhalla extended his deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and colleagues during this time of grief.

Bhalla demanded high-level investigation to find out cause of death . He said that since the whole issue is fishy only a probe by CBI will settle the nerves of the Sikh community as a whole and the bereaved family in particular. Bhalla urged LG administration to expedite the probe into the mysterious death of AEE Gurmeet Singh and expressed sympathy with the bereaved family in Baramulla.

Bhalla described Assistant Executive Engineer Gurmeet Singh as dedicated and honest officer who always served people selflessly. Urging Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to intervene, Bhalla demanded speedy probe into the death of AEE and ascertain the facts and details regarding Gurmeet’s death.

He extended sympathies and condolences to the bereaved family and implored the administration to ascertain the circumstances leading to his death. Bhalla also appreciated the intense and comprehensive search operation by SDRF, canine squad and drone surveillance that led to the finding of the body of Gurmeet Singh  from a barrage in Lower Jhelum Hydel Project.
