BIRSA- Dogri Heritage Programme concludes at Historic Samba Fort
Parola making, Waste to Art, Dogri Cuisine competitions form main attraction of mega event
SAMBA, January 12: BIRSA- An initiative of District Administration Samba to promote rich Dogra art and culture as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, concluded here today at Historic Samba Fort, amid fanfare, enthusiasm and gaiety.
Deputy Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta, was the chief guest on the occasion. She said that the BIRSA programme has been conceptualized to preserve and promote our vivid Dogra Heritage especially among younger masses. She said the competitions including Parola making -traditional wall art, Dogra cuisines making like Chirolian, Babroo, Kiyur etc were held to introduce youth to their roots. “To preserve our culture it is also important to spread a message on sustainable environment and under the aegis of Har Ghar Champion Waste to Art competition was also held today” informed the DC Samba.
The DC also announced that BIRSA will be an annual feature of District administration Samba under promotion of Art and culture division. She directed District Information Centre to include more events into its ambit and create a niche for Vocal For Local and Atma Nirbhar campaign.
The winners of Waste to Art event were Sumit Choudhary, Monika Devi, Sania Salathia, Tarun Verma, Ankita Verma, Rishav Kumar and those for Parola event werfe Manjuda Bibi, Anju Devi, Ankita Sharma. Similarly, the cuisine competition winners were Seema Devi, Madhu Rani and Manshu Kumar. The winners as well as participants were given mementos, certificates of participation besides handholding for pursuing their talent as a career.
The special invitees who performed as jury for different competitions included Ravinder Jamwal, Bhishamer Mehta for Parola; Preeti Rathore, Shashi Bala for Waste to Art; Prof. Babita Kumari, Krishna Rajput for Local Dogra cuisine.
District Information Officer Ajay Sharma, DSWO Deep Kumar, AD FCS&CA Mukther Ahmed, AD Handicrafts, CEO Jaswant Singh besides other officials were also present.
