DC Chairs NCORD meeting to review drug de-addiction measures in Poonch District
Collective Efforts Urged to make the district a Drug-Free
POONCH, SEPTEMBER 14: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary today chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) focusing on various drug de-addiction and awareness measures to combat drug abuse in the district.
During the meeting, SSP Poonch, Vinay Kumar, provided a comprehensive briefing on the steps taken to tackle the drug menace in the district. He also presented detailed information on the quantity of seized drugs, including heroin and cocaine.
With the objective of curbing drug abuse and creating a drug-free environment in Poonch, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of close coordination among committee members and urged them to make dedicated efforts.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need to raise awareness among teachers and the general public. He directed the ARTO (Assistant Regional Transport Officer) to organize a special drive on drug abuse, utilizing innocent individuals on the roadside to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of drugs.
Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioner instructed all officers to facilitate wall paintings with the “Nasha Mukt Bharat” (Drug-Free India) message, along with helpline numbers, in prominent locations at schools, colleges, Panchayat offices, and Tehsil offices.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police, Vinay Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tahir Mustafa Malik, PO ICDS, Khalid Hussain Wafa, Assistant Commissioner Development, Abid Hussain Shah, Principal GDC Poonch, Dr. Jasbir Singh, Principal GDC Skt. Prof.Rani Mughal, CMO Poonch, Anees Altaf Nabi, SDM Mendhar, Jahangir Khan, Tehsildar Haveli, Anjum Bashir Khan Khattak, Tehsildar Surankote, Mohd. Akbar, Tehsildar Balakote, Pawan Khullar, CAO Poonch, Rakesh Kumar, DEPO, N.M Suri, Drugs Inspector, Naib Tehsildar Loran, Azam Khan, Naib Tehsildar Mendhar, Mukesh Singh besides other concerned officers were present.
