A two-day management development programme on building leadership skills, organised by the Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, concluded at the Anutham Hotel.
Jammu, September 15: A two-day management development programme on building leadership skills organised by the P.G. Department of Commerce, University of Jammu, in collaboration with Anutham Hotel and Amantran Farm successfully concluded. The event took place on September 14th and 15th, 2023 at the Anutham Hotel. The event has been sponsored by “Yokohama India Pvt. Ltd., Gupta Tyre House, Jammu”. The MDP, meticulously organised by the Department of Commerce, aimed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in leadership roles in their sector. The Management Development Programme was initiated by the Department under the mentorship of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Umesh Rai, who urged the department to take a proactive step towards enhancing the learning experience by taking it directly to the field.
Dr. Rinku Sanjeev, corporate trainer, Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies, Noida, was the resource person for the MDP. The second day started with the session on conflict management, wherein Dr. Rinku Sanjeev, corporate trainer and resource person for the programme, demonstrated practically through games like blowing balloons and looping paper chains how conflicts can be resolved. The session focused on team building, problem solving, etc., which helped the participants grasp the skills essential for conflict management.
In the second session, Dr. Rinku deliberated on time management, wherein she stressed the importance of making time tables and setting priorities for the actual management of time. The third session focused on effective communication and its components. Dr. Rinku stressed the importance of body language, dressing sense, feelings, eye contact, hand movement, smile, and tone of voice in building communication skills.
The event concluded with the valedictory function, wherein Dr. Jeevan Jyoti, HoD, honoured the resource person, Dr. Rinku Sanjeev, with a certificate of appreciation. The collaborators, Anutham Hotel & Resort and Amantran Farm, and the sponsor of the event, “Yokohama India Pvt. Ltd., Gupta Tyre House, Jammu,” were so honoured with the ementos. The feedback and takeaways from the programme were given by the participants, who were urged to hold similar programmes regularly on various issues their organisation faces. The certificates were distributed to the participants as well.
The formal vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Harleen Kaur, deputy coordinator of the event. The event was attended by Dr. Jyoti Sharma, Dr. Sunil Kumar, Dr.Vishal Gupta, and Dr. Deepti Abrol.
