JAMMU, Sept 22: “The people of Jammu and Kashmir are being deprived of their democratic and constitutional right as the Centre is shying away from holding elections in Jammu and Kashmir”. It was said by Babu RamPaul former minister and President Central Zone (Jammu-Samba-Kathua), JKNC while addressing the meeting at old janipur in Jammu district.

The meeting was organized by Dr Vikas Sharma, Zonal Secretary and Coordinator Jammu District (Jammu) which was attended by Adv. Rajinder Chanyal, Surjit Kumar, Ashok Tyagi, BD Dalotra, Charan Dass, RajinderKumar, Arjun Tyagi and others.

While addressing the meeting Babu Rampaul said that the last election was held in 2014 in Jammu and Kashmir and since then no election has been conducted depriving people of their constitutional and democratic rights. He said that India was called as mother of democracy but keeping people without elections for long is the murder of democracy and urged upon the Centre to hold assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir without any delay.

He further said that no democracy can survive without elections as popular government is the soul and people are its body. “The elections in Jammu and Kashmir had been conducted in the worst situations in the past and one cannot digest the excuse of the Centre that the situation is not conducive for elections”, Rampual added.

Former Minister criticised the stoppage of ‘Darbar Move’ practice as immoral by the government because it has adversely affected the business community. “The business community, small traders and commoners are all suffering due to policy paralysis and deep rooted corruption at all levels.

“Unemployment among youth has also impacted the life of the educated youth who are concerned about their career for which their parents are in a doldrums and deeply worried about their children”, he added.

Lauding the pro-people work done during the NC rule, he said that his party leadership knew the ground realities and framed the policies in such a way that people of J&K irrespective of region, religion, caste and creed benefited equally.

While welcoming the new entrants into the party fold Babu Rampaul said that the party will get a new energy and momentum in spreading the message of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, party president and vice president respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vikas Sharma said that only the youth can bring visible change and they should actively work in the upcoming ULB elections, elect NC candidates and bring them forward for equitable development and progress of Jammu City. Hence everyone should join hands together to do good for Jammu City by ensuring victory of JKNC candidates. Dr Vikas emphasized that whether it is meter or property tax, we will not allow it to be imposed as we will do the work for the overall interest of the public, he added.
