Three-Day Mela Patt concludes in Bhaderwah
Dharmarth Trust expresses gratitude to Dashnan Committee, Mohalla Khakhal residents & District Admn Doda for their invaluable contributions
DODA September 22: With the divine blessings of Lord Vasuki Nag Ji, the three-day historic Mela Patt concluded in Bhaderwah successfully.
As per the directions of Hon’ble Chairman Trustee and Trustees, the event was organized by J&K Dharmarth Trust in collaboration with Dashnans and supported by the local community.
The Mela Patt commenced on September 18, 2023, with the grand Jhaari Shobha Yatra led by the Rajpurohits of Bhaderwah. This captivating event marked the beginning of a spiritually enriching journey.
On September 19, the sacred Jhaari was mounted on the traditional Patt in the house of Rajgurus, where rituals were conducted by the Dashnan Committee, comprising ten families responsible for the revered responsibilities associated with Lord Vasuki Nag Ji. The local residents of Mohalla Khakhal showcased their unwavering dedication by embellishing the Patt with exquisite decorations, enhancing the grandeur of the event.
The subsequent days, September 20, 21, and 22, witnessed a spirited celebration filled with devotion and fervor, as crowds gathered to participate in the Mela Patt festivities. Lord Vasuki Nag Ji’s blessings were sought with reverence, and cultural traditions were celebrated with enthusiasm, forging bonds of unity among the community.
Trust’s President, Brig R.S Langeh (Retd), said “This festival is not only the symbol of religion but also depicts the proud unique heritage and mutual brotherhood. Perhaps this is the only festival in India which is being celebrated for the last 600 years without any untoward or undesired incident, clearly evidencing communal harmony of the area.”
He said that the Trust remains committed to preserve and nurture these sacred traditions, inviting all devotees to join in the celebration of faith and unity.
Ashok Kumar Sharma (IPS Retd), Trust’s Secretary has expressed gratitude to the Dashnan Committee, residents of Mohalla Khakhal, and the District Administration of Doda for their invaluable contributions. Their unwavering support, commitment, and efforts in making essential arrangements and promoting this sacred event were pivotal in its resounding success, he added.
He also appreciated the efforts of Arjun Singh, Trust’s Manager in Bhadarwah and his team for smooth conduct of Mela.
