Joint Mock Drill conducted in Reasi District
REASI, September 22: A joint mock exercise (Drill) was conducted today in Reasi district to prepare for natural disasters/flooding. As per the directives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India/Central Industrial Security Force Headquarters, the exercise focused on the flooding of the Dam and the rescue of downstream inhabited areas.
The joint mock exercise included the participation of CISF, NHPC, SDRF, District Administration Reasi, J&K police, fire services, medical services, intelligence agencies, CRPF, and other departments officials and personnel. Local villagers were also involved in the mock drill.
During the mock drill, NHPC’s Dam Control Room informed CISF Control Room that the water level in the dam was continuously rising, necessitating the opening of all dam gates, which could potentially lead to flooding in the downstream areas. An alert was sounded by NHPC’s Dam Control Room using sirens to alert the people.
CISF Control Room called the District Administration’s Emergency Operation Center and instructed them to send all their departments immediately to Kashi Patta for rescue operations and to save lives and property. SDRF conducted search and rescue operations, saving people affected by the flood.
At the end of the mock drill, the ADC Reasi, GGM HOP Salal Management, Commandant of CISF, and others praised the exemplary performance of all agencies and expressed their commitment to conducting such mock drills in the future to establish better coordination and save lives and property.
ADC Reasi Abdul Star, J.C. Sarkar, GGM, Project Head of NHPC Salal, Commandant CISF Ritesh Kumar Roy, Tehsildar Reasi, Suresh Singh were present in the joint mock exercise.
