Swachh Bharat Abhiyan a massive cleanliness drive was conducted by Fisheries deptt

SRINAGAR, October 01: Under the aegis of “Swachatta Hi Sewa Hai”, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan,” a massive cleanliness drive was conducted by Fisheries department across the 20 districts of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to commemorate the 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. 

During the campaign, all rivers, streams, springs, fish farms, and adjoining neighbourhoods were brought under the cleanliness drive. 

The objective is to have cleaner water bodies and healthy ecosystems, sending a message to the general public about the significance of keeping water resources pollution-free for safe usage and following scientific methods of waste disposal.

At various places, there was an overwhelming response from the locals who also actively participated in the events. 

A massive cleanliness drive was conducted at the trout farming project in Panzath, Qazigund, which was led by the Director of Fisheries, Jammu & Kashmir, accompanied by JD Fisheries Kashmir, District Development Council member  Bilal Ahmad Deva, DD Fisheries Anantnag, a large gathering of senior citizens, residents of Panzath village, and scores of Fisheries Officers/ Officials from the Anantnag district.

The Director of Fisheries, J&K laid emphasis on keeping the environment free of pollution and sensitized the public about scientific ways of waste disposal, which is essential to conserve our natural resources for longevity and ensure their continuation for future generations. 

This message was well-received by the public, who lauded the initiatives of the department and made a commitment to work towards better utilization of resources by maintaining the ecology and environment free of all forms of pollution.
