Gandhi Jayanti: Delhi LG VK Saxena pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat

New Delhi [India], October 2 (ANI): Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi.

Delhi L-G VK Saxena also took to X to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.

“On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, a humble tribute to the Father of the Nation, the man of the era, Mahatma Gandhi. Pujya Bapu’s entire life was dedicated to truth, non-violence and love. Bapu’s thoughts and ideals will always remain a source of inspiration for humanity and will pave the way for the welfare of the world” he wrote on X.

Delhi L-G VK Saxena also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Of India Late Lal Bahadur Shastri at Vijay Ghat on his 119th birth anniversary.

“A heartfelt tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri ji on his birth anniversary. His slogan of ‘Jai-Jawan, Jai-Kisan’ infused new energy into the country and India moved forward on the path of progress with full confidence. My tribute to these great children of Mother India” he posted on X.

Several other leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid their heartfelt tributes to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and second Prime Minister of India Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary.

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi who is also known to be the ‘Father of the nation’. The whole nation pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on this day and it is marked as a national holiday.

Born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar town of Gujarat, Mahatma Gandhi or Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi adopted a non-violent resistance and was at the forefront of the freedom struggle against colonial British rule with utmost patience. This led to India finally achieving its independence in 1947.
