GDC Vijaypur celebrates Gandhi Jayanti

SAMBA, OCTOBER 03: Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur celebrated Gandhi Jayanti with a profound emphasis on the principles of cleanliness, truth and non-violence. A skit, staged by the NSS Unit (KHIDMAT), witnessed enthusiastic participation from a multitude of college students.

The program featured an array of thought-provoking scenes that beautifully portrayed the essence of truth and non-violence. These visuals aimed to inspire and instill the values championed by Mahatma Gandhi himself. The major highlight of the skit was a captivating presentation titled “Champaran Satyagraha.” This skit served as an interactive and engaging way to explore the intersection of Society and Truth & Non-Violence, echoing Gandhi’s timeless teachings.

This initiative was part of a broader plan to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti 2023. Dr. Radhika Rasyal, Lecturer in Dept of History played a pivotal role in orchestrating the event, ensuring its success. The overall coordination and guidance were provided by Dr. Vandana Gupta, Principal of the College. In her address to the gathering she appreciated the efforts of all the participants and contributors, expressing profound gratitude for their active involvement in making the event a meaningful and enlightening experience. She further said that the celebration not only paid tribute to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, but also encouraged students to reflect upon and internalize his principles of truth and non-violence, fostering a sense of social responsibility and harmony.

 About 90 students of the college witnessed the skit and it was highly applauded by the audiences. The skit was organized by Dr. Shittal Sharma, Convener NSS; Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, NSS PO; and Poonam Kundan, Convener Cultural Committee.
