Transportation of migratory tribal families commences at Ganderbal

ADDC flags-off fleet of trucks for transportation of pastoral tribal families

GANDERBAL, OCTOBER 04:  The first convoy of nine trucks for transportation of pastoral tribal families from district Ganderbal to various districts of Jammu division was flagged-off by Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani today here from Lar.

The flag-off ceremony was also attended by Additional Superintendent of Police, District Sheep Husbandry officer Ganderbal and SHO Lar.

A total of nine trucks carrying five migratory tribal families along with 449 sheep/goats from four locations of the district viz, Rangil, Babadaryadin, Safapora and Wayil left for their destinations i.e Reasi and Rajouri district of Jammu division.

The exercise of transportation of nomadic/tribal people along with their livestock who migrate to various highland pastures for the grazing of their livestock to their respective destinations through inter province/ inter district/ intra district routes was initiated in the year 2022-23 facilitated by the District Administration through Department of Sheep Husbandry, RTC and ARTO in response to the directions received by Tribal Affairs Department.
