Opposition parties dharna on Oct 10 will send peoples’ message for early restoration of democracy – Vikar Rasool
Dharna will counter the narative that 80% people do not want elections in J&K – Bhalla
JAMMU, October 08 : PCC President Shri Vikar Rasool Wani has asked all senior leaders and functionaries of PCC including former Ministers, ex-legislators, DCC Presidents, functionaries of frontal organizations and blocks to attend the proposed peaceful Joint Dharna of main opposition parties and like minded social organizations on 10th Oct. for the restoration of democracy and other burning issues confronting the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a meeting of senior party functionaries, DCC Presidents, Corporators and frontal organizations at the PCC HQ here today, alongwith Working President Shri Raman Bhalla, Shri Vikar Rasool Wani asked the party leaders and workers to join the proposed Dharna on Oct. 10 in order to send a message of united opposition seeking immediate restoration of democracy and the democratic and constitutional rights to the people of J&K apart from highlighting the burning issues of people of different sections of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that people are suffering under the bureaucratic regime for last more than five years and the Governor’s administration claimed the more than 80 % people in Jammu and Kashmir don’t want elections and are happy with the present dispensation, In order to counter this kind of narrative, the united opposition through this peaceful dharna want to send a clear and loud message that the people of Jammu and Kashmir want early restoration of democracy and to have their elected government apart from other democratic and constitutional rights and want to get rid of the present bureaucratic system, sooner the better.
Although the dharna is symbolic and not a show of strength but good number of leaders and workers will attend the join the people protest on Oct. 10 and thereafter some time the leadership of the INDIA alliance would also be invited here.
Addressing the meeting Working President Raman Bhalla said that people want immediate holding of Assembly elections apart from other elections like ULB and Panchayats etc. on time without any delay. The people of Jammu and Kashmir irrespective of any ideology, religion or region are unanimous on the demand for the restoration of democracy at the earliest and other democratic rights and statehood without any delay.
He said that joint opposition dharna will send out a strong message of the people desire for early elections to the state assembly and other due elections apart from restoration of other democratic and constitutional rights. He said the UT administration and Centre Govt. are trying to dodge the people of Jammu and Kashmir by delaying and deferring assembly elections and other elections time and again out of the fear of the backlash and defeat of BJP.
Ravinder Sharma Chief Spokesperson briefed the meeting regarding the preparations and consultations with the like minde3d political parties and other social organizations like NC, PDP, CPIM, Panthers Party, Shiv Sena , IDP and others who are like minded and united for restoration of democracy and other democratic rights at the earliest. He said that the senior leadership of all the liked minded parties and their workers will participate in good number although it is symbolic peaceful dharna between 10.30 A.M. on wards. He said that burning issues faced by the different sections of the society including unemployed youth, farmers , students, traders, transporters, daily wagers, temporary employees and all other burning issues of common man shall also be highlighted.
