District Level Fruit Show & Workshop organized by Department of Horticulture Kishtwar under MIDH Scheme

KISHTWAR, OCTOBER 12: The Department of Horticulture Kishtwar orchestrated a District Level Event, including a Fruit Show and Workshop, today at TRC, Kishtwar, under the scheme MIDH (Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture). 

The program was presided over by District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav.

Over 500 growers from various parts of the district actively participated in the event, gaining valuable insights into innovative horticulture practices and technology.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner commended the commendable efforts of the Horticulture Department. He urged participants to leverage the incentives provided by government schemes for the welfare of the farming community. Emphasizing the importance of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), he encouraged them to unite and lead in the horticulture and allied sector.

The Deputy Commissioner motivated participants to acquire skills in fruit and vegetable preservation, fostering entrepreneurship for economic gains. He emphasized the value addition of horticulture products to meet the demands of both local and national markets.

During the event, the Deputy Commissioner actively inspected the stalls set up by the Horticulture and allied Departments.

Earlier, Chief Horticulture Officer, Kishtwar, Sajid Mustafa, welcomed guests and participants. He provided a detailed briefing on the schemes of the Horticulture Department, including CAPEX, MIDH, Modified High-Density Plantation, and HADP. Mustafa informed farmers about the incentives available, particularly the 50 and 60 percent subsidies for male and female entrepreneurs respectively under CAPEX for establishing fruit and dry fruit units.

In the afternoon session, a workshop facilitated interaction between farmers and experts from the Department of Horticulture.
