Orientation programme under Project ‘UNNATI’ held at Ganderbal
GANDERBAL, OCTOBER 12: Orientation programme under Project ‘UNNATI’, witnessing an overwhelming attendance of eligible MGNREGA beneficiaries, was held today at Conference hall mini-secretariat Ganderbal.
The programme was presided over by the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani and was organised by the Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Ganderbal.
At the outset, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Ganderbal, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat highlighted the objective of the MGNREGA.
He deliberated upon the main features of Project UNNATI as a scheme which intends to upgrade the skill-base of the MGNREGA workers, and thereby improves their livelihoods so that they can move from the current partial employment to full employment, reducing their dependence.
During the training session, ADDC said that the MGNREGA aims to build a sustainable livelihood for the rural households. The main thrust is on providing unskilled manual work for 100 days to the eligible rural households. In a growing economy, it is imperative that MGNREGA workers shift from unskilled manual work toward skilled work so that their income increases permanently in a significant manner.
During the training session, the experts from RSETI & KVK explained about the courses being offered by them to the eligible MGNREGA beneficiaries under Project UNNATI through detailed presentations.
The programme was also attended by Block Development Officers of the district including Panchayat Secretaries and GRSs of all Blocks along with a considerable number of MGNREGA eligible beneficiaries.
