Three-day workshop on “Internationalization of Higher Education: Opportunities and Challenges in line with NEP-2020 begins at JU
Jammu, Jan 16: A three-day workshop on “Internationalization of Higher Education: Opportunities and Challenges in line with NEP- 2020” organized by the Department of Electronics, University of Jammu in collaboration with UGC-Human Resource Development Centre, University of Jammu under the RUSA-II Faculty Improvement Support begins at University of Jammu.
The inaugural function was held in the Seminar hall of the Department of Computer Science and IT, University of Jammu. On this occasion, Prof. Manoj K Dhar, Former Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu who was the Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of the Electronics Department and especially Prof. Rakesh Vaid for organizing various activities from time to time and also congratulated the organizers for choosing a very relevant theme in the present context. He told that since ancient times India was a Vishava Guru and World-class institutions were there in India such as Takshashila, Nalanda, Vikramshila, Vallabhi and set the highest standards of multidisciplinary teaching and research and hosted scholars and students from across and countries. The New National Education Policy (NEP 2020) also aims to develop India into a global leader in the field of knowledge heavily drawn from ancient Indian history.
Earlier, Prof. Rakesh Vaid, Convener of the workshop threw light on the theme and objectives of the workshop and also stated that the idea was to create awareness among the stakeholders regarding Internationalization in Higher Education such as Global Classrooms, skill and interdisciplinary approach, integrating research into curriculum etc. Furthermore, he emphasized that this workshop will also be focused on research/teaching collaborations, faculty/student exchange with high-quality foreign HEI and signing of mutually beneficial MOUs with foreign Universities/countries so as to promote the University of Jammu as a global study destination in line with NEP 2020. On the occasion, Prof. S. K. Pandita, Director HRDC, University of Jammu also addressed the gathering. Prof. Nandakumar Kalarikkal, Senior Professor, MGU. Kerala, Prof. K. C. Mohite, Former-Dean, Pune University and Prof. S. K. Pandita, Director HRDC, Univ. of Jammu were the special guests on the occasion. Prof. Parveen K Lehana, HOD of the Electronics department presented the formal welcome address and spoke about the various initiatives taken by the department.
The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Ranjeet Kalra, teaching faculty, HRDC, University of Jammu.
The programme was attended by Prof. Susheel Sharma, Dr. Rockey Gupta, Prof. Dipankar Sengupta, Prof. Renu Nanda and a large number of Faculty members from the University and colleges, research scholars and officials of the University.
