DDC Anantnag unveils Road Safety Week-2023 Calendar
MVD Anantnag organises Blood Donation Camp
ANANTNAG, JANUARY 16: In a first of its kind initiative, Motor Vehicles Department Anantnag today unveiled the Road Safety Calendar at Mini Secretariat DC office, here as part of National Road Safety Week-2023 celebration with the theme ‘Swachatha Pakhwada’.
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Quyoom, who was Chief Guest at the event released the Calendar on Road Safety in presence of senior officials of Civil, Police Administration and Security Forces.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that this is an eye-catching reminder of road rules for the family or workplace, or road user and the 2023 Road Safety Calendar features a ‘best of collection’ bringing together some of the best road safety messages and various offences which is a very unique and innovative concept and for this he appreciated Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Anantnag and his team for their commitment towards road safety.
Regional Transport Officer Kashmir, Sajid Yehya Naqash who was the Guest of Honour said that the calendar is very informative and displays messages pertaining to road safety which will help us to spread the message of road safety to every household and can significantly change the behaviour of youth towards road usage.
Automobile dealers associations and various automobile dealers of the district were present on the occasion.
Earlier in the day, in connection with 34th Road Safety Week celebrations, Motor Vehicle Department Anantnag in collaboration with the Health Department organized a Blood donation camp at Bijbehara.
The camp was inaugurated by Chief Medical Officer Anantnag, Dr Mohd Yousuf Zagoo in presence of ARTO Anantnag, Dr Mohammad Zubair Lattoo.
The event witnessed huge participation of volunteers including the officials of MVD department besides representatives of Taxi Operator Union, Drivers from various schools and volunteers of the Automobile dealers donated blood in the camp.
Addressing the gathering, the ARTO said that donating blood can save precious lives, particularly in road accidents. He stressed upon the need to organize road safety awareness programmes throughout the year as a sustained drive. He appealed to motor vehicle users to follow the traffic rules and make road safety part of life.
He impressed upon the Transporters/Drivers to ensure implementation of Motor Vehicles Act/Rules strictly so that road accidents are minimised and precious human lives are saved.
