Jammu University pays rich musical tribute to Legendary Singer Kishore Kumar on his “Punyatithi”

JAMMU, October 13: The Music Club, under the dynamic leadership of Prof Umesh Rai, Honorable Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu and under the umbrella of UTSAAH, The Clubs, University of Jammu today paid rich tribute to the musical maestro and actor on his 36th death anniversary. On this occasion, a musical programme was organized at the University of Jammu.

The musical event was attended by music enthusiasts and fans of Kishore Kumar. Budding singers which included faculty,officers,students, scholars and other employees of the University recreated the magic of the iconic songs of Kishore Kumar. Each performance was a heartfelt message to the Legendary actor and singer. The purpose of organizing the musical event was to bridge the generational gap and create awareness among the present generation about the essence of music and the unique singing style of the evergreen singer. By organizing this event, the younger generation was familiarised with the timeless beauty of immortal Kishore Daa’s  songs to promote the rich musical heritage that Kishore Kumar represented to generations, ensuring that his legacy continues to resonate with the generation to come, especially when in view of  the uniqueness of the old music, the trend of remixing of old songs is largely attracting the new generation as well. 


The programme conducted under the overall guidance of Prof Satnam Kour, Chairperson-Utsah(The Clubs)was deeply appreciated by all and  the need for organising such programs regularly was also reiterated by all the participants. Among many dignitaries, which included Coordinators of the different Clubs of the University, the distinguished guest on the occassion were Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Prof Prakash C Antahal, Prof Monika Chadha, Prof Suman Jamwal and Prof Romesh Sharma.


Dr Vikram Sahi, Librarian Dhanvantri Library, University of Jammu and Ms Shrishti Sharma conducted the proceedings.The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr Neeraj Sharma, Coordinator – The Music Club, University of Jammu.
