Amrit Kaal Vimarsh on Viksit Bharat@2047 held at CU Jammu: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh Delivered Lecture
JAMMU, October 14: The Central University of Jammu organised a special programme on “Amrit Kaal Vimarsh Viksit Bharat @2047 Development – Dialogue on Chandrayaan 3: India on Moon,” which shed light on India’s remarkable journey to explore the moon.
The event commenced with Saraswati Vandana followed by Lamp Lighting Ceremony and formal welcome address by Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar of CU Jammu, setting the tone for the enlightening discussions on advanced technology and Chadrayaan-3 to reach the moon and the stars. He said that Chadrayaan-3 is an inspiration for youth to encourage them to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Prof. Sanjeev Jain, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Jammu, delivered an inspiring address emphasizing the importance of space exploration for the nation. He highlighted many innovative schemes started by the government in the recent past that are significantly contributing to improving the life of people, helping students and academicians in realising their dreams. “We are heading towards a very bright future as several government schemes have been started by the Govt. of India for its people and every Indian is proud of mission Chandrayaan weather it’s 3 or upcoming missions,” said Prof. Jain
Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Hon’ble Minister of State, Government of India, shared his insights and vision for India’s lunar aspirations. He spoke about the significance of Chandrayaan-3, India’s third lunar mission, and how it contributes to the nation’s technological advancement and scientific exploration. He highlighted the setting up of ISRO’s Satish Dhawan Centre for Space Sciences at the Central University of Jammu. “This is the only ISRO centre in northern India, which also offers academic courses in space sciences. Students must take advantage of this facility,” said Dr. Singh.
India achieved 40th rank out of 132 economies in the Global Innovation Index 2023 rankings published by the World Intellectual Property Organization. “India has been on a rising trajectory, over the past several years in the Global Innovation Index (GII) and raised her rank from 81 in 2015 to 40 in 2023, a jump of about 40 points. Innovation has been at the forefront and will be pivotal in driving the country’s resilience, as enshrined in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s clarion call on Atma Nirbhar Bharat,” said Dr. Jitendra Singh.
Dr. Jitendra Singh also highlighted the significant and growing presence of women in the field of space in India. He emphasized the pivotal role that women are playing in the country’s space endeavours, underscoring their contributions to India’s space missions. This acknowledgment comes as a testament to the increasing inclusivity and diversity within India’s space sector, showcasing the invaluable expertise and capabilities of women in this crucial domain.
During his address at the event, Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted that our current generation is going through Amrit Kaal, quite literally the Golden Period. “India’s startup culture is growing day by day. Our young minds are exploring every field with the help of technology. Especially in the field of space, startups have shown significant growth and today we have around 150 space startups,” Dr. Singh emphasized. He also added that drone permissions and regulations have been changed and people can take benefit from it and make best use of it.
The event was held at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Auditorium of CU Jammu and was attended by approximately 350 participants, including UG and PG students, faculty members and research scholars from various departments of the University. The event was also live streamed in the classrooms of the university where students watched it live.
After the talk, a very highly interactive question and answer session was held, where CU Jammu’s students and faculty asked several questions. Dr. Jitendra Singh answered many questions on space and technology related topics. He suggested students to not take failures as obstacles rather emphasized on taking them as a deep learning experience. He also mentioned, due to the rebalancing of the global economy a variety of opportunities are open to the Indian market. Today’s young generation should be ready to take full advantage of this situation to fulfil their entrepreneurial dreams.
Other esteemed guests included Mr. Vasu Yadav, JKPCB Chairman; Dr. Zabeer Ahmad, Director of IIIM Jammu; and Prof. BN Tripathi, Honourable Vice Chancellor of SKUAST Jammu. Mr. Abhishek Sharma, Deputy Commissionerand Mr. Benam Tosh, SSP Samba, also graced the occasion.
