DC Kupwara chairs winter preparedness meet, discusses arrangements for ensuing winter season
KUPWARA, October 17: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan on Tuesday chaired a meeting of Officers to review winter preparedness of different departments in the district.
During the meeting, the DC reviewed availability of Snow clearance machines, stock position of essentials, action plans prepared by the concerned departments to prevent interruption in services during this winter season.
The DC directed officers of R&B, PMGSY and Mechanical Engineering to ensure that main roads and inner links are cleared of Snow within 24 hours. “No road should remain closed due to Snow accumulation beyond 24 hours”, DC said.
She asked the concerned officers to prepare a comprehensive and meticulous Snow clearance and winter plan to avoid any inconvenience to people by extending a prompt response.
She also called for better coordination in dealing with Snow clearance operations and to ensure smooth power, water supply and other essential supplies.
Meanwhile, the Power Development Department was directed to enhance buffer stocks of Transformers and stick to the electricity schedule and ensure no unscheduled power cuts are made.
The DC directed R&B and DDMA to explore the possibility of Shelter homes for Tangdhar, Keran and Machil. She emphasized that shelter homes will be equipped with essential services and commodities so that stranded passengers are saved from inconvenience.
The DC directed AD food to start winter stockings in Snow bound areas from tomorrow.
Moreover, Ayushi also instructed for activation of control rooms at District, Sub Division and Tehsil headquarters level and asked DIO to consolidate the details of all the control rooms and publish them for wider publicity.
DC directed concerned departments to speed up the pace of works and complete them before 15 November and asked officers to monitor the works on priority.
Meeting was attended by ASP Kupwara, ACR Kupwara, SDM Lolab, OC Beacon, other District and Sectoral Officers.
