West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose presents Durga Bharat awards

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], October 19 (ANI): West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose presented the first set of Durga Bharat Awards at the Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday.

The prestigious award ceremony took place during a remarkable event that coincided with the launch of Raj Bhavan’s ‘Kala Kranti mission’. This visionary initiative aims to showcase the rich culture of West Bengal and India to the entire world.

“As part of the annual ‘Durga Bharat’ awards launched by the Raj Bhavan in West Bengal, music legend Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty and Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, Shantiniketan Viswabharati, and Chandrayan Team were honoured by Governor Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose in a gala function` at the Raj Bhavan on Tuesday evening,” as per a press note from the Raj Bhavan.

While Ajoy Chakraborty was honoured for his outstanding contribution to music, the ISRO was recognised for the recent success of the Chandrayaan Mission. Shantiniketan Visva Bharathi University was recognised for its contributions to education and the Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) for the organization’s achievements in shipbuilding, the release stated.

All four were awarded the Durga Bharat Param Samman, the highest category of the Durga Bharat awards, which also come with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a plaque, and a citation.

The governor’s wife, Lakshmi Ananda Bose, also graced the event with her presence, adding a touch of elegance and significance to the occasion, as per the release.

More than 100 guests also experienced a cultural event that featured various traditional Bengali dance forms such as goudiya, santhali, and chhau, the release stated.
