10 Day theatre workshop concludes at Cluster University Srinagar

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 19: A 10 day theatre workshop organised by Cluster University Srinagar in collaboration with the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages aimed to train the students in stage performance concluded today.

Resource Persons of National School of Drama, Saras and Junaid were invited to train the students for different roles in theatre performance. Students of IG English, 8th semester, participated in the workshop.

The workshop started with Inaugural function at Tagore Hall Srinagar which was attended by the local artists from door darshan, officers and officials of Cluster University and JK Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. 

In his inaugural speech, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Qayum Hussain emphasized the need for theatre exposure to be given to students so that they can learn the fundamentals of body language, voice modulation and projection, facial expressions, stage decorum, and coping with stage fright.

At the valedictory function held in the Cluster University Campus today, the trained students performed a self-designed play named AARZI. The play was based on the stories of refuge, love and longings of people for their demolished houses.

The Vice Chancellor Cluster appreciated the students for showcasing their hidden talent and expression of their confidence level.

In his concluding remarks Prof. Qayum appreciated the hard work of the students under the guidance of the NSD team saying that Cluster University is always ready to provide a platform for the holistic development of the students. He also distributed certificates among the participants.

Registrar, Dean academic affairs, Controller of examination, Secretary Cultural committee, Deans of all faculties and persons from J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages were also present on the occasion.
