Police seize 5 logs of illicit Deodar timber in Handwara; FIR registered
In a significant operation to combat illegal forest activities, the local police in Handwara recovered five logs of illicit Deodar timber, also known as Himalayan cedar, on Friday.
The timber, measuring a total of 22 cubic feet (CFT), was confiscated during the operation.
Authorities responded swiftly to the incident, and in response to the seizure, they have registered FIR No.68/2023. The case is filed under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which pertains to theft, and Section 26 of the Indian Forest Act (IF Act), which deals with offenses related to forest resources.
