PEMA annual awards held at SKICC Srinagar, artisans of Pashmina Craft facilitated

SRINAGAR, October 21: PEMA annual awards were held at SKICC Srinagar where artisans of Pashmina Craft were facilitated. The event was attended by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Shri Manoj SinhaJi, chief Secretary Dr. Arun Mehta, commissioner/ secretary Industry and commerce Mr.  Vikramjit Singh and Dr. Hina Bhat Vice ChairPerson KVIB

The event started with a Diya lighting ceremony followed by  a speech by Dr. Hina Bhat. This was followed by distribution of the awards by LG.

PEMA president Mr. Tariq Dar thanked the dignitaries and also spoke about some key challenges faced by the industry. He also talked about the possibility of making Pashmina one of the top exporting products of India. He added that  It’s important to restore dignity and respect to our artisans who are the backbone of our industry. He further said that this is a historical event because it is an event held by private players of the industry which is long overdue as we owe this to our artisans.

This event is also special because today we are recognizing the support/auxiliary artisan’s who play a key role however have never been recognized for their contribution.

General Secretary Mr. Imran Rashid concluded the event and thanked all the dignitaries and congratulated the awardees. He also announced 2024 awards which shall be held in June 2024 for which all artisans should start preparing their entries.
