Mega snow Skiing event held at Sinthan to Promote Adventure Tourism, Winter Sports
KISHTWAR, October 29: The serene surroundings of famous Sinthan Valley in District Kishtwar were today filled with thrill and adventure amid a mega snow skiing event organised to promote Adventure Tourism and Winter Sports.
The event was organised by District Administration Kishtwar, in collaboration with the Kishtwar Development Authority (KDA), Sub Divisional Administration Chhatroo, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports, District Youth Service and Sports Department
This thrilling event witnessed the participation of more than 50 skilled skiers and enthusiastic trainees from the Jawahar Institute of Monitoring and Winter Sports.
Notably, a significant portion of the participants were girls, underscoring the growing interest and participation of women in winter sports.
The event was inaugurated by SDM Chatroo Showkat Hayat Matoo in presence of Tehsildar Suman ji Sharma, SHO Sandeep Kumar Parihar besides other officers and officials of KDA, Jawahar institute of Mountaineering and Winter sports besides girl participants.
The primary objective of this event was to promote adventure tourism and winter sports in the picturesque region of Kishtwar. With its snow-clad landscapes and breathtaking vistas, Sinthan area of Kishtwar offers immense potential to become a hub for winter sports and a favourite place for adventure enthusiasts.
Dr. Devansh Yadav, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar has expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “Kishtwar is a hidden gem with enormous potential for adventure tourism and winter sports.
Today’s event is a testament to the talent and enthusiasm of our youth. We aim to make Kishtwar a renowned destination for winter sports, and we are committed to providing the necessary infrastructure and support for this purpose.”
The event received support and cooperation from various stakeholders, including the Kishtwar Development Authority (KDA) and the Jammu and Kashmir Police, who ensured the safety and security of all participants. The Jawahar Institute of Monitoring and Winter Sports played a vital role by training and preparing the participants, contributing to the overall success of the event.
Shokat Hayat Matoo, SDM Chatroo, who closely supervised the event, expressed his appreciation for the participants and the organizers, emphasizing the need to harness the untapped potential of winter sports in Kishtwar. “We are committed to nurturing local talent and creating opportunities for our youth in winter sports,” he stated.
