ADC reviews Implementation of District Environment Plan in Udhampur district
UDHAMPUR, NOVEMBER 02: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Joginder Singh Jasrotia, on Thursday convened a meeting in the Mini Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex to review the progress achieved under the District Environment Plan.
During the meeting, different aspects were discussed, including Solid Waste Management, Biomedical Waste Management, Plastic Waste Management, Construction and Demolition waste management, Control of Identified Polluted River Stretches, Industrial Wastewater Management, Domestic Sewerage Management, Mining Activity Management, Hazardous Waste, E-Waste Management, Water Quality Management, and Restoration of Water Bodies.
While reviewing the status of the implementation of the Solid Waste Management Plan, the ADC directed the CEO MC and EOs to ensure the scientific and regulated disposal of solid waste.
The District Officer PCC Udhampur was also directed to constitute anti-polythene squads to enforce ban on the banned material. The EOs were instructed to enhance door-to-door garbage collection, waste segregation, and immediate improvement of garbage dumping sites.
Regarding the disposal of Biomedical Waste, the ADC directed the Health Department to strictly implement the guidelines.
The ADC emphasized the need for comprehensive environmental conservation measures in the district, including extensive plantation initiatives, reduction of plastic and polythene usage, and improved waste disposal practices. CEO MC Udhampur, EOs Chenani, and Ramnagar reported the establishment of collection points in compliance with NGT directives in their respective areas.
