ACB, Dist Admin organize Awareness programme at Kulgam

DC administers integrity pledge to participants

KULGAM, NOVEMBER, 02: Under the ongoing vigilance Awareness Week, Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in collaboration with District Administration Kulgam today organized an awareness programme with the theme, ‘Say No to Corruption, Commit to the Nation’, at conference hall of mini-secretariat, Kulgam.

The programme was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat; SSP- ACB, Rakesh Kumar, SSP Kulgam Sahil Sarangal also attended the programme.

ADC, Viqar Ahmed Giri; Chief Prosecuting Officer ACB South, ACR, ACD and other officers were also present in the programme along with PRI members, students and employees.

At the outset, the DC administered an integrity pledge to the participants. It was impressed upon the gathering to commit to fight against corruption and also maintain the highest standards of integrity, transparency and good governance in all aspects.

Addressing the occasion, the DC said that observance of Vigilance Awareness Week is to foster collective participation by all stakeholders in the fight against corruption and to raise public awareness about the existence, causes, gravity, and the looming threat of corruption.

He said that slew of measures have been taken with prioritizing accountability and transparent administration and zero tolerance against corruption. He said laws and agencies are there to deal with the persons indulged in corrupt practices.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP-ACB said that such programmes are being conducted to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in the prevention of bribery and to raise public awareness on the issue.

He also deliberated on the role of ACB in dealing with corruption and apprised the people about the rules and measures in place to combat the corruption and corrupt practices.

He added that corruption is hindering the process of development and everyone has to be vigilant to report any corrupt practice.

SSP Kulgam on the occasion said that in good governance, corruption has no space and to check it, objective agencies are there.

ACB, Chief Prosecuting Officer Farooq Ahmad and Resource persons from ACB  deliberated on various Acts and added that the focus areas of the awareness day is to spread greater awareness to the general masses as well as local committees.

During the awareness programme, participants including students, PRI members exchanged ideas regarding the perils of corruption and measures to combat this menace.

Director Horticulture Kashmir, G.R. Mir, participated in a significant function at the Horticulture Complex, Lal Mandi. The event, organized by the Department of Horticulture, marked the distribution of Nursery Registration Certificates to 268 Private Nursery Growers who are now officially registered with the Department.
