DLSA organizes Legal Awareness programme on POCSO Act-2012

GANDERBAL, NOVEMBER 02: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal in collaboration with Tehsil Legal Services Committee Ganderbal today organised a legal awareness programme on POCSO Act-2012 at Government Boys High School Sherpathri.

Students and teachers of the said school besides students and teachers of Islamia Hanfia Model School also participated in the programme with great enthusiasm and commitment.

The event was held under the chairmanship of the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Ganderbal and under the active guidance of the Civil Judge (Sr. Division) /Secretary, DLSA Ganderbal, Nusrat Ali Hakak.

During the programme, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal, emphasized on the critical importance of creating a safe and secure environment for children.

Highlighting the provisions of the POCSO Act 2012, she also threw light on its objective of protecting children from sexual exploitation, abuse, and other forms of harm. Students gained valuable insights into recognizing and reporting incidents of child sexual abuse.

Bilal Ahmad, social activist also threw light on the significance of child protection and the need to address the growing challenge of child sexual abuse. He also emphasized the importance of empowering communities to be vigilant and proactive in safeguarding children from exploitation, ensuring their well-being, and providing them a safe environment to flourish.

The legal awareness programme served as an eye-opening experience for the attending students, enabling them to understand the importance of their role as proactive bystanders and empowered individuals.

By equipping them with knowledge about their rights, responsibilities, and avenues for redressal, this initiative aimed to instill confidence and a sense of security among students.

The successful execution of the Legal Awareness Programme on the POCSO Act 2012 reinforces the commitment and dedication of the District DLSA towards safeguarding the rights and well-being of children.

By reaching out to educational institutions and enlightening young minds, the district authority envisions a future where child safety is prioritized and diligently protected.

The programme witnessed the presence of Secretary DLSA Ganderbal, Legal Assistant, staff members, para legal volunteers of DLSA Ganderbal, social activist, faculty members and enthusiastic students from the twin schools.
