Vigilance Awareness Week 2023: District Administration Kishtwar hosts day long workshop for DDOs

KISHTWAR, November 4: District Administration, Kishtwar under the aegis of Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav today organized a day long capacity building workshop for Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDO)s, here in collaboration with the Directorate of Audit and Inspection, Jammu as a part of observance of ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’.

District Vigilance Officer, (ADC) Kishtwar Inderjeet Singh Parihar presided over the workshop. Besides the event was attended by Chief Accounts Officer Showkat Rather, District Fund  Office Kishtwar besides District Treasury Officer Lokesh Kumar besides several district officers and representatives of concerned departments, all aiming to address and tackle corruption issues in the region.

Discussions also centred on the functioning and execution of guidelines of Audit and Inspection, Finance Department.

Sensitizing the DDOs about various extant rules and regulations of the Finances Department, the District Vigilance Officer, (ADC) Kishtwar Inderjeet Singh Parihar

told in the meeting that during the observance of vigilance awareness week from 30th of October to 5th of November, the debates, skits and different cultural items are being organised across the UT to promote and highlight the fall out of the menace of corruption.

He added that Vigilance Awareness Week is being observed to foster collective participation by all stakeholders in the fight against corruption and to raise public awareness about the existence, causes, gravity, and the looming threat of corruption.

The District Administration is taking a variety of measures to prioritize accountability, transparency and zero tolerance against corruption, he said and added that enforcement agencies are there to deal with any sort of corrupt practices.

Meanwhile, Pawan Gupta AO and Jai Dev Katoch AAO from Audit and Inspection, Finance Department gave a presentation on the purchase manual, GFR, 2017 and roles and responsibilities of DDOs’ in respect of incurring expenditure in Government offices.

All the District officers had a detailed interaction with Audit officers on various issues like Budget preparation, Reconciliation, Clearance Certificate, Physical verification, Tendering, GeM Purchasing, Service Books maintenance, Local funds, Record maintenance, and Security Deposit.

Continuing the activities under Vigilance Awareness Week, an anti Corruption Pledge was also administered to DDOs present on the occasion in spirit with the theme “Say no to corruption; commit to the Nation”.

The Chief Accounts Officer Showkat Rather, District Fund  Office Kishtwar besides District Treasury Officer Lokesh Kumar  appreciated the team of  Audit and Inspection, Finance Department for making vigilance awareness workshop successful in the district Kishtwar.
