3 Day District Level Kala Utsav takes off in GBHSS Gandhi Nagar

Event features competitions in ten different art forms

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 06: A three- Day District Level Kala Utsav-2023 Competition was inaugurated today here in Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar.

Chief Education Officer Jammu, Suraj Singh Rathore was the Chief Guest of the event. The host school Principal Govt. Boys HSS Gandhi Nagari   Adarsh Bala welcomed the Chief Guest and other guests.

 A bouquet of flowers was presented to the Chief Guest by Deputy Chief Education Officer, Ashok Kumar Raina, Principal GHSS Hari Singh, Dr. Kishor Kumar along with the Jury members.

Speaking on the occasion, Suraj Singh Rathore said that Kala Utsav–2023} competition will be conducted in ten different art forms which includes Vocal Classical-Music, Vocal Music-Traditional Folk, Instrumental Music-Percussion, Instrumental Music-Melodic, Dance-Classical, Dance-Folk, Visual Arts(2D), Visual Arts(3D), indigenous Toys and Games, Drama (Solo Acting). He also said that in all ten art forms, one male and one female winner will participate in the Division Level Kala Utsav competition. Further he added that the competition was being organised every year for IX to Xll class students giving them an opportunity to exhibit their talent in different art forms.

 The Kala Utsav is an initiative of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GoI), launched in 2015, to promote different art forms in education, by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talent of school students in the country.

Lecturers, Masters and Teachers having expertise in different art forms were nominated as Jury members to judge the contestants. Deputy Chief Education Officer, Jammu   Ashok Kumar Raina informed that Kala Utsav-2023 competition shall continue for three days till 08 November 2023 and the declaration of result for all the categories and the felicitation function shall be held on 08 November, 2O23.

The inaugural function was attended by District Education Planning Officer, Jammu Tarlochan Singh Billowaria, DYSSO Sukhdev Raj Sharma, Lecturers, Masters, Teachers and a large number of parents.
